What is Calisthenics?

<---------------   Click Links at side for Item Descriptions!

Calisthenics is a performance sport which is unique to Australia and originated in Victoria during the Victorian Gold Rush era.  It's aim was the promotion and enjoyment of physical fitness, with exercises often combined with apparatus to keep wrists and elbows, flexible and supple.

The artistic sport as we know it today is uniquely Australian.  It combines elements of gymnastics, dance, ballet, marching, club swinging, rod twisting, singing, national folk dancing, theatre and stage production into intricate and entertaining team performances.

Children of all ages thrive on the variety and challenges offered in the many facets of Calisthenics.  Throughout the year teams learn up to six routines and perform them on a stage.
